Registered 'Veldpost' card addressed to Batavia bearing Netherlands Indies 'Dutch Rule Restored' SG 467, 1c olive-green, SG 471, 7 1/2c olive and SG 473, 15c blue tied by circular 'Elephant' Veldpost/ Y - Brig' cache in carmine with Palembang registration label tied by Palembang date stamp with Batavia arrival. Stunning item for the Exhibitor.

The Dutch Indies declared Independence from the Netherlands at 10am, 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and bloody conflict until the Dutch recognized Independence on the 27th Dec 1949.
