Netherlands East Indies. (British Occupation). Circa 1815. Pre-stamp folded letter written from Batavia addressed to Grisse cancelled by double circle 'Java/ General Post Office/ Ba = Tavia/ Dol = Lors/ Stv = Vers' with adjacent framed 'POST - PAID' in red and rated '18' styvers.
Very fine item from the British Occupation, the Postal charge was indicated by manuscript on the circular hand-stamp. (When on the reverse indicating Dutch administration period).
