Netherlands East Indies. (Veldpost). Circa 1945. Stamp-less envelope addressed to 'het Hoofd van E.H.A. 3' hand-stamped 'Dienst' with large bold framed 'Veldpost' in carmine and cancelled by circular 'Veld-Post/ Sorteerkantoor/ B' with censorship 'Censuur/ Gepasseerd/ B' in carmine on face and Landstorm military cachet in violet. Very fine.
The Dutch Indies declared independence from the Netherlands at 10am, 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and bloody conflict until the Dutch recognized Independence on the 27th Dec 1949.
