Netherlands East Indies. (Diplomatic Mail Censorship). 1942. Registered Air Mail envelope addressed to 'Military Attache, Netherlands Legation, Washington' bearing Netherlands Indies SG 419, 40c green and SG 440, 1g violet (strip of five and single) tied by Bandoeng date stamp '17th Jan 42' with matching registration label, hand-stamped 'Aangeteekend' twice in violet and framed 'Niet Door Censuur Geopend/ 11' in carmine, endorsed 'Air Thoughout' , routed over the Pacific with New York and Washington arrival 'May 18 42' on reverse.
Very fine item of Pacific mail held for 4 months for censorship. High franking of 6 gulden 40 cents.
