Envelope written from the 'Department Van Economische Zaken Batavia' with circular Government Office stamp in violet on face and imprinted 'Dienst/ Vrij Van Port', addressed to 'The Royal Netherlands Legation, Washington' bearing Netherlands Indies SG 406, 25c blue-green tied by Batavia date stamp with framed 'Niet door Censuur/ Geopend/ 85' censor cachet struck twice on face with hand-stamp 'Released/ By Authority of the District Postal Censor' applied on arrival in Washington.

Mail to and from the Government Offices abroad were not subject to censorship.
