Netherlands East Indies.. (Dutch Rule Restored). 1946. Envelope addressed to Sermaran bearing Netherlands Indies SG 472, 10c brown tied by bold framed hand-stamp 'Post - A - Div./ Soerabaja' in violet with arrival '25th April 46.'
The Dutch Indies declared independence from the Netherlands at 10am, 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and bloody conflict until the Dutch recognized Independence on the 27th Dec 1949.
