Afz.' in violet on face with adjacent 'Veldpost - Soerabaja' double ring '13th Sept'.
Scarce item of Interrupted mail during the War of Independence.
The Dutch Indies declared independence from the Netherlands at 10am, 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and bloody conflict until the Dutch recognized Independence on the 27th Dec 1949.
