Netherlands East Indies. (Marine Post). 1946. Air Mail envelope addressed to England bearing Netherlands Indies 'Dutch Rule Restored' SG 477, 60c grey tied by Marine Postkantoor/ Batavia double ring in violet '24th June 46'.
The Dutch Indies declared independence from the Netherlands at 10am, 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and bloody conflict until the Dutch recognized Independence on the 27th Dec 1949.
