Netherlands East Indies. (Malaya). 1941. News-Wrapper headed 'De Sumatra Post' addressed to Penang bearing Dutch Indies SG 325, 1c slate and SG 427, 5c ultramarine tied by Medan date stamp '29th Dec 1941' with hand-stamp 'Censuur/ Gepasseerd/ 2' in violet and instructional 'Retaft/Postveibinding ver/ Broken'. Penang had fallen into the Japanese hands on the 1st December 1941 and the Japanese Occupied all of the Netherlands Indies by 9th March 1942. The marking Postal Connection Broken was applied to Service Suspended mail.
