Air Mail envelope written from the 'Cabinet de Gouverneur' with circular 'Nouvelle-Caledonie et Dependances/ Cabinet de Gouverneur' in violet on reverse addressed to Algeria, North Africa bearing New Caledonia Yvert 158, 3f lilac and sepia and Yvert 159, 5f blue and sepia tied by Noumea / Nlle Caledonie double ring '1st July 40' with framed 'Retour/ A L' Envoyeur' and instructional 'Acheminement Suspendu' on face (struck twice), endorsed 'via Sydney' and returned with Noumea '9th Sept 40' on reverse.
Lovely item of interrupted mail to North Africa.
