Northern Rhodesia dated 'October 3rd 1916' and signed, routed via Tanganyika with double ring 'F.P.O.' 1' on face '16th Oct 16' at New Langenburg (Tukuya) with 'Opened by Censor/ 568' censor label tied by Lisbon receiver '3rd Jan 1917' on reverse.
The Nyasaland Rhodesia Field Force under the Command of Brigadier General Edward Northey, began their offensive in East Africa on '20th May 1916'. Northey's forces crossed into German East Africa on 26th May 1916'. On May 30th they had occupied New Langenburg.
