Stamp-less envelope written from 'Tacna' dated 'March 20th 1857' addressed to France cancelled by oval 'Franca/Tacna' on face, endorsed 'via Panama & Southampton' with British Post Office 'Arica' transit 'Mr 21' with framed Anglo-French accountancy 'GB/ 2f 875/10c, London and French entry cachet '2nd May' and Bordeaux receiver, charged with hand-struck '24' accountancy tax. A very attractive item from the British Post Office in Arica. (This hand-stamp and the Crown Paid were lost in the 1868 disaster.
