Peru. (British Post Offices). 1851. Stamp-less envelope written from 'Islay Peninsula' dated 'March 30th 1851' addressed to the United States cancelled by Islay double arc date stamp 'Ap 2nd' on flap, routed via London and Liverpool '23rd May' with circular 'New York Pkt/ 24' arrival 'Jun 4' and hand-struck accountancy '19/Cents' on face. Very rare item from the British Post Office in Islay only opened until 1877. Exhibition quality.
