(France). 1860. stamp-less envelope written from Manila dated '6th Dec 1860' addressed to France cancelled by Manila/ Filipinas double ring '8th Dec' with boxed 'PD' erased (Paid to Destination) and framed 'P.P.' (Paid Part) on face, endorsed 'via Marseille' with 'Pays Etr. V Suez /Marseille ' French entry cachet in red on face '25th Feb 61', rated '16' with Marseille a Paris and Paris a sedan ambulant '26/2' on reverse with Fay Champ arrival '27th Feb'. Superb item sent by P&0 steamer via Madras and Suez with the 'PD' erased by the French under the 1860 Franco-Spanish Treaty and the amount of 16 decimes (double letter rate) paid by the addressed in Mareuil-sur-Ay.
