Stamp-less envelope written from Riga dated '21st July 52' addressed to Porto carried privately to London, cancelled by hand-struck Thromorton St. in blue with London/Paid date stamp in red '16th Aug', rated '1/9' in m/s, endorsed 'Per Peninsular Steamer via Southampton' with Lisboa transit and charged '560' in blue on face with oval 'Ley de R's'tax hand-stamp in blue-green and framed Porto arrival on reverse. Interesting item from the Baltic's and taxed at the four times rate for mail by British packet.
