Portuguese Colonies. (Portuguese India - Prisoner of War). 1917. Stamp-less Registered envelope written from "AGUADA', Nova Goa' addressed to the 'Comite International de la Croix Rouge/ Agence Internationale des Prisonniers de Guerre, Geneve' with boxed 'Correio da Portugal/ Isento de Francia' in green and framed 'India, Portuguesa/ Verificau/ Censura Militaire (7) in violet, endorsed 'Registered' with 'India Portuguesa Censura Postal Militar' censor label, routed via Lisbon '4th Dec 17' with 'Controle Postal Militaire' label tied by oval 'Ouvert Par L' Autorite Militaire/ 206' cachet and Geneva receiver on reverse.

On the 23rd February 1916 Portugal captured 5 German and one Austrian ships in all its ports. The crews were held Prisoner of War in the Fortress of "Aguada, Nova Goa.' In late 1919 the P.O.W.'s were released.
