Russia. 1839. Folded entire written from St. Petersburg dated '5th Sept 1839' addressed to France cancelled by St. Petersburg/ 1839 hand-stamp with m/s 'Franco' and 'P. Paye' on face (Van der Linden 2256) and hand-struck 'Tilsit/ 22 Sept' with oval '11/ A.E.D.' in red (Affranchissement Etranger Destination) and 'Prusse/ Forbach 3', French entry cachet on face with Lyon arrival '1st Oct' on reverse. Very nice item of transit mail with type 'A.E.D.' not listed in Van der Linden.
