Folded letter written from Moscow dated 'May 22 1842' addressed to France cancelled by hand-struck red 'Moscow/ 1842 Mai 23' with 'Aus Russland/ Franco- Tout' (Van der Linden 326) and 'P. Paye' on face (Van der Linden 2256) with oval '11/ A.E.D.' in red (Affranchissement Etranger Destination), various m/s with '153' in red ink on face and ''102 1/2' on reverse, routed via Tilsit with hand-struck 'Tilsit/ 10 Juni' on reverse and 'Prusse/ Forbach 2' French entry cachet on face with Lyon transit and Marseille arrival '20th Juin' on reverse.
Very nice item of transit mail from Russia to France with 'A.E.D.' type not listed by Van der Linden.
