Sarawak. (Batu Lintang, Kuching Civilian Camp). 1943. Civilian card addressed to Manchester headed 'Furyo Yubin' (Prisoner of War Post) dated '3rd Oct 43' and written from Batu Lintang with 'Internment Camp, Borneo' printed on reverse, framed 'Boruneo Tekiseikokujin Yokuryusho Kanrikan (Borneo Enemy Person Internment Camp/ Administration Officer) with circular seal of "Sugu" in scarlet and boxed 'Crown/ Passed/ P.W. 903' applied on arrival and endorsed '19/9/44' indicating arrival in England.
David Tett noted only 5 Civilian cards plus one in the Bulterman collection and this card makes seven.
A separate Civilian compound or camp was opened to accommodate women and children at Batu Lintang.
