Spain. (China). 1893. Registered mourning envelope addressed to Marseille bearing Spain Yvert 207, 50c carmine tied by framed 'Certificado Barcelona' date stamp '31st Jan 1893' and hand-struck 'R' with Marseille Bch de Rhone' arrival '2nd Feb', forwarded to 'Doctor Cleoe, on board the French paquebot "Caledonian" a Shanghai, China' with octagonal 'Ligne N Paq. Fr. No 6' date stamp on face '5th Feb 93' sent on the steamer "Natal" from Marseille.
Due to damage on the journey the "Natal" only went as far as Shanghai, all French paquebots continued on to Yokohama.
