French Colonies. (Tahiti). 1918. Stamp-less envelope endorsed 'Service' addressed to Papeete cancelled Papeete/ Tahiti date stamp '6th Dec 18' with circular 'Etablissements Francaise de Oceanie/ Tahiti/ District de Mahina' on face and reverse. A scarce item from World War One.
After the bombardment of Papeete by the Germans in 1914 a French military Detachment was stationed in Oceania and Tahiti.
