THAILAND. (SERVICE SUSPENDED). 1940. Envelope written on the Thai/ Malay border addressed to Denmark bearing Thailand SG 289, 15s blue (uncancelled), endorsed 'via Bangkok Japan, Manchukou, Siberia, U.S.S.R. Finland and Sweden' cancelled on reverse by Hat Yai railway date stamp, routed via Penang with censor tape tied by boxed 'Opened by/ 11/ Censor', framed 'Retour' and hand-stamp instructional 'Postal Communications/ Suspended' with oval 'Dead Letter Office/ Penang' (28th Nov 40) and returned via Bangkok with 'Post & Telegraph of Thailand/ Officially Sealed' label tied by South Express railway date stamp in violet. Extraordinary item of interrupted mail which cannot be forwarded via Siberia because of the Russian/ Finish War and the Pacific due to Pearl Harbour (8th Dec.). Only three recorded of the hand-stamp 'Postal Communications Suspended.'
