Thailand. (Great Britain). 1941. Air Mail envelope written from Great Britain addressed to Bangkok bearing SG 465, 2d orange, SG 470, 6d purple (pair) and SG 486, 1d pale red tied by London roller 'Nov 8th 1941' with 'Opened by Examiner/ 1626' label and framed instructional 'No Service/ Return To sender' in violet on face and returned to London with receiver '28th April 1942'. This letter was paid to go by Air Mail and was posted on the 8th November 1941. After the USA and the United Kingdom declared war on Japan on 8th December 1941 postal services were suspended to Japan but notice of the suspension of mails to Thailand was not given until the Post Office Circular of 17th December 1941 was published. This letter was back in London on the 28th April 1942. Superb and very attractive item.
