Thailand. (Netherlands Post Office in Bangkok). 1946. Stamp-less envelope endorsed 'On Active Service' written by Capt. Theelen to his wife in Maastricht cancelled by 'Ned. Postkantoor/ Bangkok' date stamp '3rd Sept 46' on face. Capt. Theelen had been a Dutch POW on the Thai-Burma railway, while awaiting repatriation he organized the Netherlands Post Office in Bangkok requesting a Swiss style date stamp for use by the Netherlands Mission. The cancel was received by Theelen on 26th March 1946. Superb item.
