United States. ( The Burma Mail Route ). 1884. Envelope addressed 'Care of British Consul, Chieng Mai, via Paphoon, Burma' bearing United States SG 211, 5c brown (pair) tied by New York duplex 'Dec 29 84' routed via Brindisi ;12th Jan ' with Sea Post Office transit '17 Jan' and Moulmein (Burma) 'Feb 8th 85' on reverse. A very early cover sent via the Papun route established in 1884 before Siam's entry into the UPU.
