Thailand. (Air Mail). 1928. Air Mail envelope headed 'First Bangkok to London / via Air Mail / Marseilles-London / 2-10-1928' addressed to London bearing Thailand SG 255, 10s carmine and SG 257, 25s orange and black tied by wavy line obliteration in violet with adjacent Bangkok GPO date stamp and hand-struck 'Via Air Mail / Marseilles-London', Number 19 of 35 flown and signed by the pilot 'C.J.' Chan' on reverse. Scarce item the 'accelerated' service to London was inaugurated on 2nd October 1928. The routed was South Express from Bangkok to Penang, ship to Calcutta across India by train and ship via Suez to Marseille then Union Air to London.
