Air Mail envelope addressed to Darjeeling, India bearing Thailand SG 345, 2b blue-green, SG 382, 75s violet and SG 386, 10s claret tied by Bangkok date stamp with bold vernacular 'SHIELD' hand-stamp reading 'Department of News Censorship/ Military' in carmine on face and reverse with Darjeeling arrival '10th Feb 58'
'Field Marshall Surit Thanarat' came to power in the military coup of 1957. Mail containing newspapers or clippings had to be censored under his dictatorial Government.
