Envelope addressed to 'Nam Chao (Prince) Prasopsook Sookswati, Thai "Mitrasarn" bearing Thailand SG 389, 25s brown tied by Bangkok date stamp '1st Feb 1958' with bold vernacular 'SHIELD' hand-stamp reading 'Department of News Censorship/ Military' in carmine on face.
Field Marshall 'Sarit Thanarat' came to power during the military coup of 1957. Mail containing newspapers or clippings had to be censored under his dictatorial Government.
