United States. 1851. Letter from Captain Fanshawe, Commander of the "H.M.S. Daphne" in San Francisco dated October 2nd 1851' with account of Fanshawe's trip fifty miles inland to the Cinnabar Mines at Santa Clara and New Almadin Mine at San Jose (the richest quicksilver mine in the world). Very interesting letter about the mine only established as a proper working mine in 1854.
