U.S. Postage meter stamps '02' and '03' cents Paid in orange dated 'May 16th 40', routed via Singapore with triangular 'Passed For/ Transmission/ Singapore/ 1' in violet on face and 'Geopend MLLITAIRE/ Censuur Medan' label tied by Medan receiver '2nd July 40'. Very attractive item paying the surface 'Printed Matter' rate.
Spelling error "MLLITAIRE' for 'MILITAIRE' on label. Very rare, only one other example known from the "S. Masuyama" collection and illustrated in Nico de Weijer's wonderful book on Netherlands Indies censorship.
