Stamp-less envelope written from Union Town, Fayette County, Pennsylvania' dated '24th April 1844' , addressed to Scotland, endorsed 'Paid to Boston' and cancelled by 'Union Town/ Pa' date stamp 'April 24' with hand-struck 'Paid', routed via Liverpool with oval 'America/ L' on reverse (Robertson P2'), charged '1s' on face at the Packet rate with boxed Glasgow receiver '16th May' on reverse. Very fine item of Trans-Atlantic mail.
