Pre-stamp envelope written from Paris dated '17th Mars 1831' addressed to the French Consul, New York, rated '12 1/2' in m/s, routed via Le Havre with 'P. 74 B/ Le Havre' hand-stamp transit with 'Ship' min red on face and New York receiver 'May 12', re-directed to Philadelphia with boxed hand-struck 'Forwarded' in red, charged '33 1/2' with '20 1/2' manuscript erased and charged '9' on reverse. Very fine item of Trans-Atlantic mail.
