Pre stamp folded letter written from New York dated '30th March 1836' addressed to Steyer, Austria with oval 'Forwarded Through/ Hudson's/ News Room/ Foreign Ship/ Letter Office/ New York' in black on reverse, transit Bureau Maritime (Havre) circular '27th Avril' and framed French entry cachet 'Pays D' Outremer/Par Le Havre' (Salles Fig 83), hand-struck 'C.T.F.' in red (Correspondence Transit Francaise) with m/s accountancy '36 + 14 = 50' Austrian kreuzer due and manuscript '18' in black ink debit to Saxony.
The Havre Line was short lived with very few round trips. A very early Transatlantic cover to Austria, the earliest inn Richard Winter's magnificent collection (sold Schuyler Rumsey 2013) was 1845.
