Stamp-less folded letter written from Richmond, Virginia dated '15th August 1835' addressed to Glasgow with oval 'Ship Letter/ Leith' in blue (Robertson S. 6), rated '1/3' in m/s and hand-struck Scottish wheel tax 'Add 1/2' in blue on face with Glasgow arrival '23/9' on reverse.
Two vertical archive folds but an exceptional strike of the early Leith Ship Letter in blue.
