Folded printed circular headed 'Baltimore Price- Current Letter Sheet' dated 'Saturday, Morning May 31 1859', addressed to Amsterdam, cancelled by bold undated 'BALTd/ Paid' in blue, endorsed 'Per "Persia" with hand-struck instructional 'TOO LATE' in black on face, manuscript '2' in red crayon (debit to U.K.) and manuscript '10' on reverse and framed hand-stamped in side a triangular '1 1/2c'/ Amsterdam' in blue and manuscript '7 1/2' Dutch cents due rating, anointed 'Received 14 June' on reverse.
Printed circular sent in British Open mails at Newspaper rate.
Amsterdam applied triangular '1 1/2' cents marking in blue, a fiscal tax on all Printed Matter (Zegelrecht) from Foreign countries, not usually applied on front of covers but normally hand-stamped inside.
To be sent on the Cunard Line "Persia" but instructional hand-stamp 'TOO LATE' applied in New York to explain the delay in handling and letter carried on the next available sailing packet.
