United States. (Transatlantic Mails). 1855. Folded letter addressed to Amsterdam cancelled by Philadelphia/ Paid in red 'May 28' with hand-struck '21 Cents' in red on face (U.S. inland postage 5c + sea postage 16c), endorsed 'By steamer "BALTIC"/ from New York to Liverpool May 30th', hand-struck 'U.S. PKT' (struck twice) on face with London transit '11/6' and manuscript '4' pence (debit to Holland) with Amsterdam '13th June' arrival backstamp and manuscript '40' Dutch cent due rating.

London marked the 'U.S. PKT' to show basis for G.B. debit to Holland (letter paid to England, leaving only transit to Netherlands unpaid).
Dutch postage due consisted of 4d or 20cents to GB and 20 cents internal fee in the Netherlands .

The Transatlantic steamer "BALTIC" was one of four steamers belonging to the 'Collins Line'.
