Zanzibar. (British East Africa). 1939. Registered Zanzibar postal stationery envelope 5c blue upgraded with SG 315, 30c tied by Reg/ Zanzibar date stamp '19th Sept 1939' with registered label and sealed by Zanzibar 'Post & Telegraph/ Damaged & Resealed' brown label, addressed to Alger, North Africa, routed via Mombasa '20th Sept' with 'Opened By Censor' label applied tied by four wax seals and signed by the censor in blue crayon with Alger 'star' censorship in violet and Alger arrival '8th Oct' on reverse.
The postal authorities in Zanzibar used a make shift 'Post & Telegraph' label as a censor label, also in Kenya
(could they have used a 1st war label).
The first censor labels in Zanzibar are not known by John Little until 25th March 1940 and Kenya January 1940 and then the type used is with a serif.
