Thailand. ( Netherlands Post Office In Bangkok ). 1946. Stamp-less Air Mail envelope endorsed 'On Active Service' written by Capt Theelan to his wife in Maastricht cancelled by 'Ned. Postkantoor / Bangkok date '11th Aug 46' on face. Capt Theelen had been a Dutch P.O.W. on the Thai - Burma railway while awaiting repatriation he organized the Netherlands Post Office in The Bangkok requesting a Swiss style stamp for use by the Netherlands Mission. The cancel was received by Theelan on the 26th March 1946. Very fine.

Thailand. ( Crash Mail ). 1947. Air Mail envelope addressed to Belgium bearing SG 296, 50s grey and orange and SG 307, 1b indigo ( pair ) tied by Bangkok date stamp with framed 'Retarde / par suite d' Accident / d' Aviation; on face.
The flying Boat "Portland" on the Dragon route from Hong Kong to Great Britain crashed into the sea when landing at Bahrain. A few different cachets are known. The 'Retarde' cachet being used on mail to France. This is the only cover known to Belgium.
