The 10th Royal Hussars fought in the Battle of Ali Masjid at the start of the Second Afghan Campaign.

Scarce item from the Tirah Campaign written by Major General Lord Methuen to his wife in London with p/c of original latter. Kohat was the Base Office for the Campaign. Robson Lowe yet to record a cover.

Sorting' arrival on reverse. Owing to shortage of Burma stamp in the Shan States, Malaya Japanese Occupation stamps were used. Only a few covers are known from this Office only. The message is to the Police Inspector who had been working in Thailand but was know in Mandalay. Very rare commercial item of mail from the Japanese Occupation on the Burma-Thai Railway.

This the fist date recorded by Proud, only in use three months.

Registered Air Mail envelope addressed to New York bearing Iraq Yvert 119, 75f indigo (2) tied by Mosul/Reg double ring '17th Sept 40' with matching Mosul registration label endorsed 'By Air Mail Trans Pacific' routed via Bagdad and Singapore with censor tape tied by 'Passed By/ Censor 52/ Singapore' violet hand-stamp with 'F' and '16' censor cachets, Honolulu, Hawaii transit 'Oct 15' and New York 'Registered' hand-stamp and receive 'Oct 18' on reverse.

Lovely item of Registered Air Mail carried over the Pacific by Pan American Clipper via Singapore and Hawaii.
