Almost certainly Jones was a British soldier a volunteer from Basutoland in the signal corps, captured and interned in Italy he escaped over the Swiss border and writes back (undercover) c/o The Red Cross South Africa House to his parents. A REMARKABLE ITEM of Basutoland mail.

The only known example of this Burma Railway postmark from the British Military Barracks.
