Insuf,' on face with 'Suisse 3 Bellegarde' French entry cachet and charged '13' on face. Originally a four times rate cover charged 1f20 but underpaid then re-charged 5 times hence '13 (1, 30) in m/s. Very rare item with scarce 1 franc gold/bronze on cover. Superb exhibition item.

Deolali originally had been an Assembly Camp for German men and then from 23rd Feb 41 a Internment Camp for German men.

The Camp was situated on the Queen's Promenade and housed Italian males. The cachet is only recorded by Whitney in black.

Scarce item from Camp P not recorded by Whitney but believed to be from Pevril Camp.

Registered 'Prisoner of War' envelope addressed to Devon bearing SG 368, 2d orange tied by Peel date stamp '5th Mar 15' with 'R/Peel' registration label and oval 'Aliens Detention Camp/Knockaloe, I.O.M.' in violet on face routed via Liverpool with Sidmouth arrival on reverse. Herman Heiser was interned early in the war first in the short lived Stratford Camp and then Deepcut and Frimley Camps before being transferred to Knockaloe Camp. Scarce item of registered mail paying the 2d registered rate after the rate change.
