Censored envelope written from 'Father Maupeu, Monastere de N.D. de Liesse, Cheng-Ting-Fu, China' letter dated '15th Avril 1941' addressed to his mother in Auch, Gers, France, bearing SG 472, 25c violet-blue (pair) tied by Chengting vernacular date stamp, routed via Berlin with censor tape and hand-stamp and oval French 'QD1' censor with Auch arrival. Father Maupeu was a French Missionary who was originally sent to "Yang-Kia-P'ing" Monastery in Hwailai Province and as the war progressed was sent to Cheng-Ting-Fu.

Air Mail envelope addressed to England bearing SG 475, $5 deep green and scarlet and SG 589, 10c emerald tied by Kunming date stamp '26th Dec 41' endorsed 'By British Overseas Airways via Durban' with 'Passed X Censor/ Rangoon' on face in green. Nice item paying the $5. 10c rate CNAC to Calcutta and BOAC to Durban.
The cover went CNAC to Calcutta and B.O.A.C. horseshoe route via Durban and Egypt then surface to Europe.

Registered envelope addressed to France bearing 'Communist Conquest and Post War Inflation' SG 837, $200 on 10c green, SG 865, $800 on $30 chocolate, SG 895, $5,000 vermilion and green (pair), SG 949, $2,000 red-brown and blue, SG 958, $1,000 scarlet (2), SG 960, $3,000 blue, SG 978, $500 on $20 apple-green (3) and 'Progress of the Postal Service' SG 981, $500 carmine, SG 982, $1,000 lilac, SG 983, $1,250 green and SG 984, $1,800 blue tied by Tsingtao date stamp '8th Dec 47' with matching registration label. Very nice item of registered mail from the Communist and Inflation period.

Japan surrendered to the Allies in August 1945 and a race ensued between the Nationalists and Communists to seize control of the former Japanese Occupied areas until the Communist victory at the battle of Hwai-Hai in January 1949. During this period inflation increased rapidly until the introduction of the Silver Yuan in May 1949.

China. (Australian Post Office). 1904. Military Warrant Document for the train from 'Tianghu to Tientsin' cancelled 'K.U.K. Marin Detachement/Tientsin' double ring in red. The warrant was then exchanged exchanged for a ticket at the booking hall.

Envelope written from New Zealand addressed to Harbin, China bearing New Zealand SG 604, 1/2d orange (pair) and SG 670, 2d purple tied by Auckland slogan '15th Aug 1947' routed via Hong Kong '1st Oct' with Shanghai and Chang-Chun (Manchuria) transits with framed instructional 'Mail Route to Destination/ Blocked, return to sender' in red on face and sent back via Hong Kong '24th Jan 48' with '4th Jun 48' hand-stamp in New Zealand. The Chinese People's Liberation Army controlled Harbin causing a break down in postal communications, the mail has reached Changchun in Manchuria but the Nationalists who controlled this area 'blocked' the letter from going on. The instructional was applied in Shanghai. Only four items known with this rare instructional.
