Nice item with Exchange Office and D.E.I. War of Independence censor.

The Dutch East Indies declared independence from Holland at 10am 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and conflict until the Dutch recognized this on the 27th Dec 1949.

Hong Kong. 1941. Un-stamped envelope written from the 'American Club, Hong Kong' addressed to 'Chase Bank, Hong Kong' cancelled by 'Postage Paid/ 2. Cts/ Hong Kong' double ring in red '18th April 41' with bold instructional 'Buy Bombers' on face in black. A very scarce WW 2 cachet.

Hong Kong. (Prisoner of War Mail). 1944. Stamp-less envelope headed 'Prisoners of War Post' addressed to 'Private Tucker, No S/ 134380, R.A.S.C. Hong Kong/ British Prisoners of War care of Japanese Red Cross, Tokio' cancelled Formby/ Liverpool '2nd June 43' with 'Crown/ Opened by Examiner/ 4435' censor label and endorsed 'OSK' in red crayon indicating Private Tucker had been transferred to Osaka POW Camp.

China. (French China). 1921. Registered Red Band envelope addressed to Tonkin bearing French China SG 85, 4c on 10c rose (pair) and SG 86, 6c on 15c orange (2) tied by Postes Francaise Amoy-Chine date stamp '15th Jan 21 (Pothion T04) with matching 'R/ Amoy' registration label and Hanoi arrival '22nd Jan' on reverse. Registered mail from the Postes Francaise Office is very rare.

China. (French China). 1886. Envelope addressed to Germany bearing France 'Type Sage' Yvert 92, 25c yellow tied by Shang-Hai/ Chine double ring (Pothion T84) with adjacent date stamp '30th Juil 86', endorsed 'per French Mail' with 'Ligne N Paq. Fr. No 8' date stamp on reverse '5th Aout' and Hamburg arrival.
This French Post Office in Shanghai is a scarce mechanical machine cachet described by 'Pothion' as a "Daguin" and was in use 1886 only.

Stamp-less picture post card of 'Annamite family meal' addressed to Hanoi cancelled by Saigon-Port double ring '4th Nov 10' with 'T' hand-stamp and bearing French Indo-China postage due SG D74, 20c brown applied and tied by Hanoi/ Tonkin receiver. Nice combination.

Very fine item of underpaid mail during the Boxer Campaign.

China. (South Viet-Nam). 1972. Air Mail envelope addressed to Saigon, underpaid with triangular framed 'T' hand-stamp and bearing Viet-Nam postage due SG D313, 1p multi-colour (block of eight) tied by Saigon date stamp with boxed slogan.
Commercial mail from Viet-Nam with postage dues is not easy to find.

Very nice item of commercial mail with Viet-Nam postage due on cover, not easy to find.

Stamp-less envelope written from France addressed to Saigon cancelled by Luneville date stamp, underpaid with 'T' hand-stamp and bearing Viet-Nam (Independence) postage due SG D83, 1d silver and blue (3) tied by Saigon arrival. Commercial mail with Viet-Nam postage dues are difficult to find on cover.

Hankow' (oval firms chop in blue on reverse) addressed to Austria cancelled by 'Imperial Chinese Post, Hankow' date stamp '16th April 03', routed via the Russian Post Office bearing Russian China SG 6, 10k blue tied by Shanghai Post Office double ring, endorsed "via Dalny" with Imperial and Russian Post Office Shanghai on reverse, with Manchuria 'Post Wagon and Wien, Austria arrival '15th May' in blue.

A few mixed covers are known cancelled franked with Russian China adhesives but forwarded from Hankow to Shanghai by the Chinese Imperial Post and delivered by the Imperial Post to the Russian Post Office for cancelling and forwarding.
