The small circular date stamp is not listed by Ted Proud.
West Indies Mail Packet Service. 1st January to 31st December 1856. This special rate was in operation for one year and few examples of the currency hand-stamp have been recorded from any part of the world. This 'Article 18' from Barbados is very scarce.

Registered envelope from Greenland detained in Bermuda during the war. In the later stages of the war the problem arose what to do with the mail which had been detained by the censor.
Mail with the 'Released By Prize Court' hand-stamp is known with a red and black cachet and 'Flynn reports 5 known to him between 1948 and 1951.

China. (French Post Office in Shanghai - Franco - Siamese War). 1894. Illustrated envelope addressed to France bearing French 'Type Sage' Yvert 90, 15c blue tied by Corr. D' Armees Shang - Hai date stamp '23rd Juin 94' (adjacent strike alongside) with hand-stamp 'Canonniere "La Comete" in violet on reverse with circular 'Marine Francaise/ Service a la Mer' and Clermont arrival '29 July'.
The French Gunboat "La Comete" had been involved in the Franco - Siamese in what would become known as the 'Paknam Incident. On the 13th July 1893 the French sent the sloop "Inconstant" and the Gunboat "La Comete" to sail up the Chao Phraya towards Bangkok without permission from the Siamese. The two French vessels came under fire from the Fort. at Paknam. The French returned fire and forced their way to Bangkok. This became known as the Paknam incident and was the start of the Franco - Siamese War.

"Dresden", Chile', endorsed 'Service des Prisonniers de Guerre' and hand-stamped 'Prisoner of War' addressed to 'Comite International de la Croix Rouge, Agence International des Prisonniers de Guerre, Geneve, Suisse' cancelled by Talcahuano/ Chile date stamp'18 Oct 19' , routed via Santiago '19/10', endorsed 'via Buenos Aries and Genova' with 'Verificato Per Censure' label tied by hand-struck '(77) Verificato/ Per Censura/ Genova Posta Estera.'
The 'SMS "Dresden" escaped the Battle of the Falklands and retreated into the Pacific Ocean to raid on allied ships. A British squadron consisting of 'H.M.S. "Kent" and "Glasgow" found the "Dresden" in 'Mas a Quiriquina Island' in the Bay of Conception and took and the crew Prisoners of War.
Mexico. (Great Britain). 1900. Mexico postal stationery 'Reply' card 'three cent' brown cancelled by Elstree and Watford return date stamps 'Mr 6 00' addressed back to Mexico.
Thailand. (Provisional Censor Mail). 1942. Envelope addressed to Bangkok Post Office '7', bearing SG 293, 10s red tied by Kantang bilingual date stamp '15th Jan 42' with provisional green censor tape with m/s 'Verified/Passed/ 15 Jan 85 (42)' and signed, hand-stamp Chinese instructional on face in carmine.

Thailand. (United States). 1936. Registered envelope imprinted 'Legation of the United States of America' addressed to Washington bearing Thailand SG 256, 15s blue (pair) tied by Bangkok GPO date stamp with registered label and New York transit with Washington arrival on reverse.
Thailand. (Official Mail). 1931. Official Mail Registered envelope headed 'PH Department' addressed to Los Angeles bearing SG 231, 3s brown (pair), SG 233, 10s orange and black and SG 234, 15s carmine tied by Bangkok GPB date stamp '30th Oct 31' with matching registration label, routed via New York with Los Angeles arrival 'Dec 14.'
Its a real pleasure to add a magnificent selection of French Colonies from Africa, Asia, The Caribbean and Oceania. A lovely selection of censor mail, some with five or six censor cachets and labels, routed Trans-Africa, two Ocean or over the Atlantic with some unusual destinations.

John Marc also had a fine selection of the Chinese Labour Force which are not often seen, he built this selection over thirty years. One of the darker aspects of World War One was the plight of 12,000 Chinese workers who were recruited by the British Army from the North of China in 1916 to serve on the battle front in France as labourers, trench diggers, munitions carriers, mine disarmers and corpse bearers under often inhumane conditions. A large number were also struck down by the devastating Spanish flue of 1918.
